If you wanted to have an equal point and counterpoint, then it should have read:
Point: Don’t Marry Career Women

Counterpoint: Don’t Marry A Career Man

That would have been an equal discussion.

This emphasis on everything having to be “equal” and “politically correct” is ridiculous- and i’m not buying it. Nothing can be “equal”. It’s a dishonest attempt to curtail OUR freedom of speech and prevent the truth from prevailing. In the future, you will not be able to establish rules saying what people can write and how they can say things. As Abraham Lincoln said-you can fool some men all the time, and all men some of the time, but not all men all the time.

You know what’s true equality, you moron? You being able to write what you want, and me being able to write what I want, with no silly rules. If people aren’t able to speak their minds, then freedom is gone- and we descend into absolute tyranny. Which is where the politically correct crowd and feminists are taking us and anyone who has their head on straight can see it.

If you believe that we are all the same and women are as likely to marry down as men, then you have a point.

In reality, however, women marry up. So while publicly they may agree with your statement, privately they will follow their biological imperative – and go after the career oriented man.

Unfortunately, our society and the inherent realities of class, gender, and race shape everything about who we are. It is amazing how people turn every complicated issue into a polarized simple debate. Housewives stay at home and work within the home for many reasons. All housewives are not the muses of wealthy, professional, or well-educated men. Some are married to blue collar or enlisted military men, etc. Other women have found themselves (whether planned or unplanned) in situations where they are able to enjoy their lives as a housewife and are married to men with the financial means to take care of them and the family. My point is, that adults make choices in their lives. Career women too have chosen their path in life as well and there are some who enjoy very happy marriages and have raised very well-adjusted children.

Professional women are attractive, well-educated, poised, and make overall “good catches” for men who are looking for those attributes. And of course so do “trophy women” who may or may not choose to become housewives. To the gentleman who wrote the article regarding the instability of career women in marriages, I wonder where he thinks all of the “milk man” jokes came from? Let’s be honest now, people will have affairs if they wish; whether they are at home all day or traveling on business.

Anyway, as one of the most well educated and prosperous cultures in the world, we should not be debating this subject in 2006. We should be looking at ways that career women and housewives both can use their gifts to make our country a better place.

Haha I totally agree…

However, this is America, and we are not comfortable with multiple points of view, it makes us feel all confused inside. So we “fix it” by making the issue us versus them…you would think the internet being what it is, the global village would interject with various viewpoints…but each time they try they are shouted down by the rock throwing partisans…so unfortunate…

We need a broader marketplace of ideas.
