Women need to show some respect

Ok, here’s what I mean by that – I truly love being a self-sufficient, high-earning career woman.  It gives me stability in an unstable world.  BUT… I am also extremely appreciative of my fiancee, what he does for me, and the relationship we have.  I respect his job, I thank him for working so hard for us, and I make him feel needed as a man and as a person.

Lots of women don’t realize that they can be both a strong-willed person and a loving, supportive partner.  I’m ok with needing a guy in my life — and he is so fulfilled as a man to feel needed in that way.  I know if push came to shove I could always take care of myself…but I *like* having him feel like he’s taking care of me.  It gives him purpose, and it gives me comfort.

Don’t confuse strength with solitide, and don’t think that self-sufficiency means not every having to need someone else.  You’ll just alienate someone who’s otherwise ready to love and honor you.  Why do you think chivalry is dead?  Because it’s not APPRECIATED any more.  Sincerely thank a guy the next time he opens a door for you, and I guarantee you he’ll walk around with a smile on his face for the next hour — and the next time he opens a door for anyone, he’ll be darn happy to do it.

Actually, I open doors for men. It’s called common courtesy.
