Women, why not the best of both worlds….

I have a career that will always be in demand (medical) and I have been both a professional and married to a man who does provide more than enough income  (a surgeon).  The security allowed me to pursue things that would enhance myself and my marriage and still know that I could go back to work anytime I pleased and make my own income.  He left the choice to me. I am a better professional for this attitude and in the fact that I am loved and feel secure in the marriage. He endorsed whatever it was that I felt I wanted in life. He was also secure.

I CAN support myself, but I still prefer a man who wants to support me–even if I choose to decline the option.  I am an excellent career woman and an equally excellent cook, and housekeeper.  I am also well travelled and I am enthusiastic about life.  The women and men who have more limited options and therefore income may be more insecure in their lives.

A man who wants a woman to be his cook, laundress and maid is fine if the woman finds fullfilment in those tasks.  It is when that work is demeaned or when the higher income earner is a control freak and often abusive financially that problems arise.

Women SHOULD become educated as a hedge against a divorce, but many single women I know who are “career women” are inclined  not to marry because they meet men who expect them to not only pull their share financially but do hours of extra duty after work in the home and with the children…or worse to support THEM!  It is not a fun prospect to have to perfom two fulltime jobs  while the husband sits in a trance in front of the television most nights. While every situation is unique, the potential for feeling used is always there.

A man who can provide an adequate income for the family as a single bread winner and who respects the contributions of his wife as an equal partner is a rare gem.  It is especially important if the woman has chosen to stay home and is not contributing financially.  Women need to feel respected and secure no matter what path they choose.

A man who knows his wife can support herself may be less inclined to take advantage of her in the ways that caused so many women to flee the home and  join the workplace in the first place.  Empowerment puts both parties on a level playing field.

I would not be inclined to marry a man who felt that because I was educated that I was a threat to him in some way.  We would not be equals. Such a man would perhaps choose a less educated woman or one with less income potential.  I believe that these are the marriages that may end in divorce–when  one party feels superior to the other and uses it to an unfair advantage.

No guy here thinks your education is a threat to him.

No guy here thinks your his equal just because you’re educated and make money either. Thats bullcrap.

You’re free to think what you want though.

You see women have choices, men have responsibility. Her husband lets her choose but will you be willing to work if he decides he wants to stop his career? Would you allow him to take a less paying job and sell your high priced possessions to support his decision? If you decide to divorce him he will now be judged by his career what his alimony and child support payments will be. This will indenture him to the government to remain fully employed as a surgeon to support his ex-family. The man again has to take the biggest financial decisions to marry or not. You chose well since you can decide to divorce and walk away with a large sum in the future.

Jennifer—-Thank you for stating what most career women feel.

I feel mothers need to be a little more careful raising their sons.  They need to make sure that they respect women.  The fathers need to help in this area as well.  Boys need to see their mothers secure and independent.  So many of them are raised to think that we are to run and pick up after them, feed them, laundry, etc.  Girls on the other hand, are taught to pick up after themselves and be more responsible.

You’re joking, right?

This is the perfect recipe to raise a generation of pathetic girly-men, or losers.

I can just imagine how much respect, attention, and affection these p*ssy-whipped boys will get at school, especially from all the girls who, as we all know, really only want bad boys.

I think American mothers need to be taught to respect, cherish, and serve (in a manner of speaking) their sons.

And American sons need to be taught to respect, cherish and serve their mothers.  That’s a given, and the foundation of feminism, at least the strain I follow.

Awesome.

Edit: Only saying that because it will be useful when I show it to other men.

You should be ashamed of yourself. And I mean it.

I hope you’re prepared for the rejection and heartache your sad little boy will experience at school from all the girls who won’t respect an eager-to-please, c*nt-struck boy who wears his heart on his sleeve.

Of course, I’ve never experienced this myself, but like all guys I can spot a mommy’s boy from 50 yards.

Call it a male instinct, or whatever.

If we don’t exist to serve each other, then life is pretty pointless.  I’d be happy if my son received no attention from girls who don’t respond well to respect and being cherished.  What kind of useless women would they be?  Certainly no good as wives or mothers, that’s for sure.

You are an utter moron.  You advice is to emasculate all men, especially boys, so that they come to heal when shrill harpies who constantly carp about nonexistent inequities bay at the moon.  Why is it that only fat fugly ones such as yourself are the ones who complain?   Go sell your snake oil somewhere else.

You are a bitter old man….I feel sorry for you.  I am an educator.  I have been one for 20 years. I am far from fat and ugly as you constantly state.  You have never seen a photo of me.  I’ll send you one if you want.  Lol—- Most educators, on the elementary level, know these facts:  Most irresponsible students are males.  They are the ones who usually don’t have their homeowrk.  They are the ones with the low test scores and low grades. They would rather pee their pants than miss a break.  They are the ones that cause the classroom disrutptions.  They are the ones that come to school and shoot their fellow classmates and teachers.  Also 60 percent of all college graduates are females.  I see many in here trying to blame that on Femminism.  How ridiculous.  Education starts at kindergarten.  And when all the boys want to do is play and goof off, they shouldn’t complain when they are not bright enough to be accpeted into a college.

By the way, how is trying to make males more responsible in society emasculating them?  Coming from someone like you, I can see why.  I give you an F on this assignment.

It is highly unlikely that you are attractive, and it is highly probable that you are overweight.  I, frankly, don’t consider 38 old.  As I am 38 and generate obscene amounts of money, it makes we quite a valuable commodity for the next 20-30 years.  The same can not be said of you or women in general.
