I’ve followed this conversation now for three days, and have made a number of posts. Now it’s time to draw the entire thing to a close. I called for this yesterday, and pointed out that people were just making the same points over and over. Yah yah guys, you’re not going to marry career women, or any women, or you’re going to marry foreign women, and you’re sick and tired of feminism and of being taken advantage of in marriage and Amnerican women are assholes and so on and so on.
Does that about sum it up?
And girls (sorry “women” the guys are just jerks if they don’t want to get married, and women have it really tough, and you don’t get what the fuss is about, but Noer’s a sexist for raising the issue, and the men writing here are such losers and you don’t want to marry them and you don’t know any women like the ones the men describe and yada yada yada.
Does that about sum it up?
So the bottom line is men are going on a marriage strike and women are going to pursue their careers and  and you’re taking your ball and going home
Then why are you all still writing? As far as I can tell, all of you are still in thrall to the other gender, despite all of your protestations to the contrary. For you caeer women: your fragile female egos are dependent upon male approval. Noer’s article offended you so much because he opens the door to the possibility that men do longer find you attractive, that they won’t pursue you, that your options are narrowing rapidly. The female identity is based on the idea of being attractive to men. Noer’s article is offensive not just because you perceive it as “sexist” (here’s a hint- get used to it. If the men on this board are any indication, anti-female sexism is about to make a comback, big time), but because at the corfe of your being, you still need men to need you. And the idea that they might not scares the **bleep** out of you.
And guys, for all your protestations that you’re not going to marry American women, for all of the perfectly valid reasons that you’ve given, you still need for them to need you. What scares you about career women is the possibility that they can be independent both financially and emotionally. Guess what. All of these posting from women demonstrate one incontrovertible fact: women still need your approval– they always will. It’s the source of their ego identity, whether they want to admit it or not. And ladies, men still need your approval, whether they are rejecting you here or not.
So stop trying to hurt each other, and get back to the main point: what are women going to do (sorry ladies, but this is your scewup) going to do to fix the chasm between ther sexes? I’ve yet to see one post from one woman who will accept any responsibility for her own, and her gender’s- sexism over the past 30 years.
When you can answer that question, post away.

Otherwise, this conversation is over.

I’m all for women becoming financially independent. Someone needs to pay the babyboomers retirements.

NOT!

….Then why are you all still writing?

Masochism?

“It occurred to me today, in a great flash of trying to think of something to write, that we could become a great country. What an opportunity! The field’s wide open. There aren’t any good countries. They’re all bad, in varying degrees. We could become the first good country ever.

“There used to be a dream for America. You know, the American dream? America was going to be different. Free. Good. Free and good. Of course they blew it right away. As soon as the Puritans came over they set up religious laws. But at least they clung to the dream. Until now. Now no one hopes for America to be different. I guess it was the dream that ruined the dream. People became convinced it was true, so they never made it true. People think the U.S.A. (a great-sounding, nice, informal name) is special, so we can do anything and it’s okay (an American expression). People should wake up and dream again.”
– James Simon Kunen, in The Strawberry Statement

It’s not good for man to be alone. That is why there are women I believe.

Yes, men do need women to not be lonely. To have a help mate. Women are dependant on men for survival. Although now women can depend themselves on the government. Dependence on the state is ridiculous, because it only breeds more dependence on the State.

Women have been proving for the last 30 years that men have been right for the last 30 centuries!

Yes just like the people depending on the government for help after hurricane Katrina. Don’t rely on the guv you’ll be in trouble if you think they will help you, they are more inclined in paying themselves well at our expense for the lowest quality service.
